Middle School Art Audition Workshop

Prepare your child for the rigorous audition process of applying to art programs in middle school.  With 20 years experience teaching art in middle school, teaching students to analyze and interpret works of art, and successfully coaching children to use the language of art to express their thoughts and ideas, I am confident that your child would benefit from my experience and insight to build the skills needed to create a strong portfolio and audition material to apply to Art Programs at the middle school level.

Students will gain skills that will help them throughout the audition process and far beyond.  These enduring understandings will provide growing artists with the organizational skills and technical knowledge that allows them to tackle any artistic endeavor fearlessly. Drawing from observation takes practice, but with guidance, students learn to simplify shapes, recognize a successful composition, and add shading and detail until an artwork is complete. Learners who attend this workshop will also analyze works by great artists, interpreting images, deciphering narrative and deeper meaning. Recognizing meaning within the artwork of others will help your developing artist to create a narrative throughout their own composition. Students will come away with a strong start to portfolio/audition material creation and the knowledge to continue actively engaging with the concepts necessary to further their artistic exploration.
